Dear December,
Happy Valentines day, babe.
I know today is all about love, but love isn’t really a strong enough word for what we have between us. It seems too short, like there’s just not enough letters there to really get across what we’ve spent years building.
Devotion. Loyalty. Understanding. Friendship. Passion. Lust…okay, that one’s another four letter word, but it’s pretty fitting.
Point is, every day you know I love you. We say it as we wake up, as we get our children ready for the day, and at every opportunity before we fall asleep wrapped around each other. So for today, instead, I’ll tell you that I admire your strength, your tenacity, your unending patience for these little hearts we’re in charge of raising. I adore your smile, your laugh, the way your hands run through my hair at the end of a long day. I need you with an intensity that has never wavered—not just that incredible body, but your heart, your mind, your very soul. You make me a better man simply because I want to be everything you deserve.
So yeah, I love you. That’s pretty obvious.
So today isn’t really for us, I guess. Maybe, it’s for those people who need to be reminded of their love.
I’ll take every other day of the year.
