Title: Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy #1)
By: Karina Halle
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents’ latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.
***The Artists Trilogy is a dark and sexy contemporary ride about three flawed individuals caught in a world where it’s so easy to justify the bad things we do. This is a pure adult read (Not YA or NA).
This is the 1st book in the trilogy. It is followed by the novella On Every Street (released in March 2013) and the sequel Shooting Scars (released in May 2013). The third and final book in the series will also be released October 15, 2013.***

My dearest Ellie,
Though this is the first Valentine’s Day we’ll be spending together as a couple, I know it’s not the first Valentine’s gift I’ve given to you. One dark February day in the ninth grade, I watched a lot of the girls – some of them your “friends” – receive boxes of chocolates, cards and flowers throughout the school day, all from secret (and not-so-secret) crushes and admirers. I also watched your face…the way it fell every time the coveted gifts would be handed out to nearly everyone except for you. You had so much anger in your eyes and yet so much hope, those commercial and crass items meaning so much more to you than they ever could to any of them.
I decided that, though we were no longer friends, I couldn’t take that hope from you. I would do anything to make you smile.
If you’ll remember, the next day, February 15th, you had a delivery of daises during Mrs. Slevin’s English class. They weren’t roses but they were all that I could afford and from the way your eyes lit up with wonder and the way your cheeks flushed, trying to figure out who the flowers could be from, I knew it didn’t matter. I’d given you happiness and I’d given you hope – if only for the last class of the day.
We’re older now and we both still think the holiday is commercial and crass but I just wanted you to know that I’ll do whatever it takes to once again give you happiness and hope. I don’t need a day. I don’t need a reason. I just want to see that look in your eyes.
I love you. Happy Valentine’s Day. Happy Every Damn Day.
Forever.
Camden.
