It’s hard to believe it’s been only a year since everything changed between us. Last February 14th, I was trying to convince myself you were only David’s sister. Now, you’re my fiancé, the mother of my child, and soon to be my wife.
I’m in awe of you, Little Bit. Not a day goes by I don’t thank God for you – your strength, your compassion, your forgiveness. I’ve made so many mistakes, especially when it comes to you, and hurt you more than I’d like to admit. But, you never gave up; not on me, and especially not on us and what we would come to be.
My life before you taught me that love is not freely given. It wasn’t patient, it wasn’t kind and it definitely wasn’t everlasting. Then, you showed me just how unselfish and unending true love should be. I watch you with our daughter, the way you love her so unconditionally, and I know, with no reservations, that Amelia will never learn those harsh lessons.
