Scandal can be handled…
Captain Maximus Harcourt, the unconventional tenth Duke of Alderidge, can deal with tropical storms, raging seas, and the fiercest of pirates. But he’s returned home from his latest voyage to find a naked earl—quite inconveniently deceased—tied to his missing sister’s bed. And he has only one place to turn. Now he’s at the mercy of the captivating Miss Ivory Moore of Chegarre & Associates, known throughout London for smoothing over the most dire of scandals.
Miss Moore treats the crisis as though it were no more serious than a cup of spilt tea on an expensive rug. As though this sort of thing happened on the job every day. Max has never in all his life met a woman with such nerve. Her dark eyes are too wide, her mouth is too full, her cheekbones too sharp. Yet together, she’s somehow…flawless. It’s just like his love for her, imperfect, unexpected—yet absolutely true.
Max is all business…with just the right amount of pleasure 😉

Dearest Ivory,
By the time you get this, I’ll on the road back to Liverpool. I don’t expect to be long, but there is business I must attend to regarding the purchase of a new clipper. I will also be meeting with Captain Black who has indicated to me that he has a number of items that seem to have fallen off his ship and floated around customs. There are forty cases of French brandy for Mr. Lavoie, but he also wonders if we would have any use for a Rembrandt?
I miss you already. You will never be far from my thoughts. I will think of you as I left you sleeping in my bed this morning. Which, incidentally, is where I intend to keep you for at least a week after we are wed. If, during that time, anyone dies, kills someone, gets shot or stabbed, gambles away a family fortune, gets arrested, or is found in the wrong boudoir at the wrong time, Miss DeVries can handle it. You are mine and only mine, just as I am yours.
Until then,
Max
P.S. Please instruct Roderick to return the items he liberated from Lord Eliston’s evening coat last night. The boy really should not be practicing his skills on clients.
Kelly Bowen grew up in Manitoba, Canada. She worked her way through her teenage years as a back country trail guide and ranch hand. She attended the University of Manitoba and earned a Master of Science degree in veterinary physiology and endocrinology.
But it was Kelly’s infatuation with history and a weakness for a good love story that led her down the path of historical romance. When she is not writing, she seizes every opportunity to explore ruins and battlefields.
Currently, Kelly lives in Winnipeg with her husband and two boys, all of whom are wonderfully patient with the writing process. Except, that is, when they need a goalie for street hockey.
