Today is Valentine’s Day, and it always makes me think back to the first time we ‘met.’ Who would have thought a random letter ending up in my hands would lead to what we’ve shared? A lifetime of love and happiness, filled with more than I could have hoped for.
From the first words you ever sent me, you were mine. You may have thought it was crazy that two people who never met could fall in love like that, but ten years later, we’re still proving it’s possible.
Sorry about the smell of burning in the house. I tried to make you a cake, but I should know after all this time to leave the baking to you. There isn’t a cake out there as sweet as you, but I like how you keep trying to find one. This extra weight I’ve started to collect is evidence of how I can’t get enough of you.
I still think back to being away on a tour of duty and how it never bothered me. I didn’t have anything waiting for me at home, so it wasn’t hard to miss something that wasn’t there. But after all of our letters and then finally getting you in my arms, I’m glad I retired early. I would have probably been arrested for desertion otherwise.
Thank you for giving me a wonderful life with three beautiful children. Thank you for putting up with my grumpy ass when we don’t get to sleep in on the weekends. Thank you for being my best friend and partner in crime. Thank you for making every day like Valentine’s Day.
