Silence is only skin deep.
Nineteen year old Daniel Colton is the guy all the girls want to date, and the man all the guys want to be. Moody, with an explosive temper, closed off and sullen, he’s also beautiful, tatted in delicious ways, with a pierced eyebrow and spiky black hair. It’s rumoured he has piercings in other places, too. Is he really mad, bad and dangerous to know?
Daniel lives with his older brother, Zef, and their home is party central. You want drugs, a good time, liquor, no questions asked? Colton’s is the place to go.
When Daniel and good girl Lisanne Maclaine have to work together on an assignment, Lisanne finds there’s a lot more to the college’s bad boy than his reputation. He’s intelligent and funny and good company. And then she discovers his secret, why he’s so closed off to everyone, and determined to keep people at arms’ length. But being his secret-keeper is harder than she ever dreamed.
Recommended for readers 18+ due to sexual references and sex scenes, some coarse language, drug references and drug use.
OMG I love Daniel’s note to bits and pieces!

Hey Baby Doll,
So, yeah, you got another letter from me. Don’t freak—it’s nothing bad this time. Promise!
I know that getting a letter from me before hasn’t exactly been balloons and teddy bears and all that shit. I fuck up. A lot. We both know it. But I’m trying, Baby Doll. I’m really trying.
And you know I don’t do that Valentine cr— uh, rubbish. That’s just for when guys are trying to impress girls—and I know I impress the hell out of you in the bedroom.
Okay, serious now.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking—it didn’t hurt as much as I expected. Joke. But I read something about that dude St. Valentine and actually he was kind of cool.
Here’s what I found out.
His name is from ‘valens’ which means ‘worthy’ or ‘strong’.
He died doing what he believed in.
He’s supposed to have cured a girl of blindness.
He signed his last ever note to the girl he cured, ‘Your Valentine’.
So for our Valentine’s Day, I’m going to write down what having you in my life means to me.
I will never stop trying to be worthy of you, Lis. I love you so fucking much. You make me strong every day.
I would die for you, Baby Doll. I would throw myself under a fucking truck if it meant that you would be walking and talking, smiling and singing for one more second. I’d kill for you, Lis, and I’d die for you. I’d rather not, because I really love that noise you make when you come with my dick inside you. But I would do it in a heartbeat, if it saved you.
I was blind before I met you. I thought I had all the answers, thought I knew it all. I thought that staying away from people meant staying strong, but you taught me that real strength is about daring to love. Toss the cards in the air and let them fall where they may, but let it happen.
You opened my eyes to the world, to all its amazing possibilities. And hearing your voice after years of silence—it’s a miracle every day.
You drive me crazy, Lis. Absolutely fuckin’ crazy. In every way. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Your Valentine, Daniel x
PS – Don’t show this letter to anyone, unless you want them to know about our fuck-hot sex life. Just sayin’.
I lived in London for over 10 years and have a love affair with New York. It’s only since I have moved to the countryside, that the words have really begun to flow.
I live in a small village by the ocean and walk my little dog, Pip, every day. It’s on those beachside walks that I have all my best ideas.
Writing has become a way of life – and one that I love to share.
