*~*Love Notes: Smith to Carina – Black & White Flowers by Rachel Robinson*~*

Carina Painter lives a life she created in between the pages of her bestselling novel. At least, that’s what she outwardly portrays. A heart-rending childhood followed by an abusive engagement leaves her broken in all ways possible. A chance encounter provides the fork in the road she so desperately desires.
Navy SEAL Smith Eppington is fighting the war of his lifetime. One that isn’t fought with weapons and highly sought intelligence. It’s a battle to remember his past. The accident that scarred seventy five percent of his body, and stole the life of his best friend also seized parts and pieces of his memory. When an author asks to interview him for a fiction novel, he’s ready to pour his heart out no matter the cost.
The friendship that blossoms between Smith and Carina is something extraordinary. It’s a living, breathing love story about finding yourself, change that is out of your control, grasping what you can, and letting go of everything else.
In a twist of kismet, remembering could destroy everything, but fiction may be what saves the day. A friendship built on new truths and a relationship torn apart by old lies collide in a poignant novel by International Bestselling Author, Rachel Robinson.
Oh Smith sure does have a way with words…

Care,
I promised I would never write you another word again. Well, you said grocery lists and honey-do lists were acceptable written notes. Folded flowers were also permitted because you’d never be allowed to read those anyways. The last time I wrote you a proper letter I destroyed our relationship so thoroughly I wasn’t sure we could come back from it.
This letter isn’t like that. This is a forever letter. Words that you can keep always and take the place of memories you’d like to replace.
You are forever. In terms that are finite, because a human life is only so long, you are my forever. The person I want to look over and see by my side in every stage of life. The background may change constantly, but nothing else matters as long as my hand is in yours. Every single human on the planet has a person. It may be a friend, or a relative, and some are lucky enough to have a best friend and a lover tied into one being.
You’re my person.
The person I want to change with, grow with, wake up to every morning, fall asleep next to every night. In a world filled with uncertainty, you’re my constant. As long as we are together I know I can face any life changes. My trust in you is implicit. More importantly, the trust I have in myself because of you is tantamount.
I’m grateful to be caught in the undertow of our love. The ebbs and flows of our relationship only serve to make our bond that much stronger. I love every piece of you. Every quirk, flaw, perfection, and trait that makes you, you are the things I cherish. Every person has a path to their heart–something that enamors them or draws on their emotions–an equation of things or words that causes or forces a sense of love into their hearts. The path to my heart is simple.
The path to my heart is through you.
Here’s to Valentine’s Day. Just another day, I’m grateful to be alive.
Because of you.
Forever,
Smith
