*~*Love Note: Jake to Miranda – Hooked by Brenda Rothert*~*

Title:  Hooked
Author:  Brenda Rothert
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
synopsis 2 new

From the author of the On the Line and Fire on Ice hockey romance series comes a sultry novel featuring a brooding NHL player who’s hell on skates—and the no-nonsense woman who forces him to clean up his act.

Miranda: Even though I’m broke, putting myself through college, and working two jobs, I’m trying to make the best of it. Meanwhile, Jake Birch, hockey’s hottest bad boy, lives in a luxury hotel in downtown Chicago—and still complains about every little thing in his penthouse. But after I tell him off, instead of getting me fired, Jake requests me as his personal housekeeper. Then he starts flirting with me. Only I’m not flirting back . . . at least, I’m trying not to. Did I mention that he’s hockey’s hottest bad boy?

Jake: I’ve met the best woman at the worst possible time. Miranda is the fire to my ice—a sexy, charmingly candid spark who breaks down my walls and reminds me what it’s like to feel again. But I’m being forced to date my team owner’s daughter to keep my job, so I can’t be caught with Miranda. Still, we’re getting closer—until Miranda finds out about my “girlfriend.” And that’s not the only secret I’ve been keeping. But Miranda’s the one I want . . . even if she doesn’t believe me.

love note

Miranda,

It’s our first Valentine’s Day as parents, and you were right. It is different.

There was no still-warm-in-the-covers morning sex today, because Dustin was up early wanting you. Your boob needed to be in his mouth instead of mine, I guess. When you brought him to lay in bed with me for five minutes so you could get a shower, I was thinking about that lacy red thing you wore on our first Valentine’s Day together. That was fucking hot.

But today, you came out of the bathroom in a t-shirt and yoga pants. Still hot as fuck, because you look good no matter what you’re wearing, but I digress.

We won’t get drunk on good wine tonight. We won’t even get tipsy since you’re breastfeeding. I’ll make you dinner and hope we can get in some great sex without Big D waking up halfway through.

Old Jake would have been pissed as fuck. But after I met you, I became New Jake. New Jake loves you and Dustin more than I thought it was possible to love. New Jake cried like a little bitch when Dustin laughed for the first time. And I’m not ashamed.

Seeing you be an amazing mother to our son is the greatest gift of my life. You sacrifice sleep and time for yourself to be there for him. When I see you rocking him to sleep, I know I’m the luckiest man alive.

I love you more with every minute of every day, Miranda. The best thing I ever did was ask you to be mine forever.

Love,

Jake

PS – Thanks for knowing me well enough to get that I can’t write a love letter without the word fuck in it. Also, bitch, but not THAT kind of bitch. Never that kind of bitch. I was talking about me. I’m the bitch.
