*~*Love Note: Collin to Imogen – The Duke by Kerrigan Byrne*~*

He is noble, notorious, and takes no prisoners…
They say that now His Grace, Collin Talmage, Duke of Trenwyth has only one hand, he might finally be a mere mortal, but no one seems willing to test the theory. Dear Lady Anstruther,
I’d take it as a great kindness if you’d cease your ritual of painting in the garden on sunny afternoons. As Trenwyth Hall abuts the Anstruther Manse, my study window affords a view of your private garden. It is apparent to me that you are ignorant of this, or you wouldn’t insist upon painting in nothing but your chemise, skirts, and corset. I’m aware of the practicality of your actions, as you have a tendency to wear as much paint as your canvass once you are finished, but I really must insist.
I assure you, I’ve tried, but I’m unable to avoid my study at three in the afternoon. I know that’s when I’ll find you there, unguarded, exposed, and unaware that you are observed. Unaware of the effect you might have on a man whose discipline wasn’t forged as an agent of Her Majesty’s crown and tested in an Ottoman prison.
I bring this to your attention as I believe such behavior might inhibit your future martial prospects. Someone—not I, but someone— they might see the way the sun moves through the shadow of an Elm to dapple your bare shoulder in dancing silhouettes. They might find your unbound curls suggestive of more amorous pastimes than merely painting, and spend entirely too much time considering if the locks are more red than gold or vice versa. One might find the arch of your brow charming as it accentuates the depths of your concentration. Nibbling on the tip of your paintbrush might be considered excruciatingly sensual to some. Of course, I’m in no way referring to myself. I prefer dark hair to your fair locks. And porcelain skin, not freckles and honey-hues, so I want to assure you that you’re in no danger of my falling under your spell…
Should you need to discuss this further, I assure you my door is always open, but for the time being, my drapes shall remain firmly closed.
Cordially,
Collin Talmage, Duke of Trenwyth
