My sweet Elyse,
I want to tell you all of the things I couldn’t before, how even when you weren’t mine you were always the center of my world. You crossed my mind, every moment of every day because our hearts have been tethered from the moment we met as teenagers. And now that we’re together, not a moment passes where I’m not grateful for our friendship and the love we’ve built.
Unspeakable, unfathomable, and unforgivable things happened and your resilience makes me fall in love with you over and over and over again each and every day. But that’s not nearly enough … I want to stay in love with you until the end of time. I hope you realize that you are worthy of being someone’s only choice — my only choice — and I intend to prove that to you as sure as the sun sets. Because at the end of the day, everything comes back to you. Just like it always has.
You’ve shown me that nice guys don’t finish last. They finish happy. And my happiness begins with you.
