*~*Love Notes: Adam to Charlotte – Wish You Were Here by Renee Carlino*~*

Title:  Wish You Were Here
Author:  Renee Carlino
Genre:  Contemporary Romance
synopsis 2 new

Charlotte has spent her twenties adrift, floating from interest to interest, job to job, and guy to guy, searching for a spark but never quite finding it. All she knows is that she won’t discover it working as a waitress at a pies-and-fries joint in Los Angeles or living with her fun but aimless best friend in a tiny apartment in the Arts District.

Then Charlotte collides with Adam, a gorgeous and soulful painter who seems just as lost as she feels. Their instant connection turns into a midnight drink… and a whirlwind night of champagne, Chinese food, and the kind of conversation that only happens in romantic comedies. But the next morning, Adam gives Charlotte the cold shoulder, leaving her confused and hurt—and wondering if the few odd moments between them the night before were red flags in disguise.

Months later, Charlotte hasn’t been able to shake Adam, so she decides to find out what happened the morning after their magical night together. This fateful decision rewrites their wild love story, but what Charlotte doesn’t know yet is that the ending has already been written.

love note

To Charlotte…

Come back to me..say goodbye.

I love-d you—I love you—I love you still.

We’re dancing,

We’re speaking,

We’re making love again.

We’re sitting on a building top,

talking bout’ the mountains,

feet hanging off the ledge.

Our hearts are beating loudly.

And nothing’s making any sense

after all the things you said.

You said the stars were named for me,

you tumbled to my bed.

You said the stars were named for me,

and stirred my messy head

Call it a cliche.

The part where’s it’s inevitable.

You read it on a billboard,

and knew it’d end this way.

Isn’t that how you work?

Life just simplified?

It boils down to what it’s worth

to labels and numbers,

and what you read in a book?

I don’t regret a thing we did,

or what I whispered when I said

I love-d you, I love-d you, I love you still.

You said the stars were named for me,

you tumbled to my bed.

You said the stars were named for me

and stirred my messy head.

Name a “time and place”-

I’ll meet you in the dark

We’ll make sense of this.

No more talking underwater,

leaving things untied.

I promise we’ll make sense of this

even if it means goodbye.

reneeI’m a California native currently residing in a beach town in Southern California where I live with my husband, our two boys, and our sweet dog, June. Even though I’ve lived in California my whole life, I’ve had a long-standing affair with the big city. New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles are some of my favorite places. I like to place my characters in different settings where I can use the unique qualities of the location to help tell the story.

I started writing creatively as a teenager, first with poetry and short stories, and then finally to the long prose as an adult. I’m obsessed with love stories and the drama and complexities that exist within our intimate relationships. In 2002’ I received a film degree and thought I would see the stories in my head play out on film but something always brought me back to the written word. My time as a seventh grade English teacher helped to reacquaint me with my love of reading and writing and soon I was devoting much of my free time to it.

Music also plays a huge role in my life. I’ve often referred to music as my lifeblood so that’s why I’ve included an on-going, ever-changing playlist on my website to share some of the songs that have inspired and evoked emotion in me, especially in my writing. Whether I’m writing about musicians or cowboys, I’m always listening to music, so I love getting new recommendations.

I’ve said before that my first friends were the imaginary kind and in many ways they still are. I love writing these stories and watching my characters grow and I’m grateful to be able to share them with you. I also really love hearing from readers so please drop by my Facebook page or twitter and say hello.
