*~*Love Notes: Trent to Melody – Conditioned by Liz Crowe*~*

Title:   Conditioned (Brewing Passion Series Book #3)
Author:   Liz Crowe
Genre:   Contemporary Romance

synopsis 2 new

A chance meeting. An improbable connection. An exquisite attraction.

Trent Hettinger’s turbulent formative years transformed him into a cynic—and into a man who realized he required something outside himself to control his temper. Something he found as a Dom—at least for a while. But he allowed himself to trust a woman once and was slapped back into reality with a vengeance and now devotes all his energy into building his real estate empire, raising his teenaged daughter…and avoiding anything resembling authentic attachments.

Melody Rodriguez kept her head down for years—working hard, making her own money, trying to get ahead with every deck stacked against her. She’s determined to move beyond the ugliness that haunts her without anyone’s help. When a mutual friend sets her up with Trent, she’s determined to have some fun with him and move on.

A man with nothing left to lose. A woman hiding behind her past. When two lives spent in emotional denial collide, it’s a perfect match—at least on the surface. But neither Trent or Melody are prepared for the full force of their true feelings, once fate intervenes and blows a cold breeze into their white-hot relationship.

Reader Advisory: This book contains a recollection of gang rape; mention of incestual rape, spousal rape and abuse.

love note

My dearest Melody,

I’m writing this as I sit in a fake leather hospital chair designed for maximum discomfort, watching you sleep. I’m so wired up after today I can’t settle and so I thought I’d attempt to get my thoughts out of my head and onto paper as a keepsake to commemorate the the third happiest day of my entire life. While the first was the birth of my first child, the ever-defiant and challenging Taylor The Terrible Horrible Very Bad Teenager, the second was the day you agreed to give me a true shot at happiness by agreeing the marry me. The third was today, when our baby, this as-yet unnamed gorgeous little girl was born. While I realize that I am now doomed to a life ruled by the Estrogen Rockettes, between you–my sublimely perfect Mexican Princess, the aforementioned Terrible Teen and the sweet bundle of my whole life snoozing away in her bed next to yours, I pity any man who doesn’t have what I have.

Honestly, I’m going to have to look up some of the things you called me en Español during our baby’s birth. One of the nurses was from Argentina and giggled her way through the whole process so I’m guessing they involve death in a thousand different ways, many of them profane and all of them painful. But as furious, red-faced, and sweaty as you were during those hours, you were and will always remain, the most beautiful woman in the known universe. (seriously, though does Que te folle un pez  really mean what I think it does? If so, kudos to your creativity during such a stressful moment).

It’s easy for me to say, and to sit here, bitching about a cheap hospital chair after what you’ve managed to do today. You are a goddess among women, my love. A real Wonder Woman walking around on this planet, and you’re all mine. As is this beautiful baby with her shock of black hair and her deep blue eyes. And I am one lucky Hijo de tu puta madre, as you repeatedly reminded me while you did all the work and I stood there and watched, awed and humbled and in thrall to your incredibleness.

I adore you, Melody Hettinger. And I will never be able to thank you enough for doing this amazing thing for me today—for giving me a second shot at dad-hood, now that I’ve been around that block once and never thought I’d traverse it again. Te quiero con todo mi corazón.

Yours forever,

First Mate and Chief Bottle Washer + Diaper King

Trent

P.S. I agree with you now—I think her name should be Alma. Because this child truly is my soul, taken from me, born from you, and now living and breathing right here in front of my very eyes.

P.P. S. Was it truly necessary to keep yelling Vete a la verga ruco at me over and over again? Just asking.

P.P.P. S. Never mind. I get it. I love you.
