Clementine,
On this, our first Valentine’s Day, I don’t want to put any pressure on you. I know this whole “being in a loving and healthy relationship” is new for you, and I want to ease you into the level of commitment we’re heading toward.
So this romantic holiday will be at a subdued stage 1. Future holidays will increase in romance and expectation at a reasonable pace so you can adapt comfortably.
I thought I’d start your day by listing a few things I think about you:
1. Your eyes are my favorite color of blue.
2. Your smile is the kind of sunrise people stay up all night long to see.
3. Your laughter is my favorite sound on Earth. I will do anything to get to it.
4. Your heart is the most tender, sincere, and strong thing I have ever encountered.
5. Your mind is fascinating. I love listening to your ideas and thoughts and where they may take us.
6. Your skin is unfathomably soft. Being able to touch it is a gift I never tire of.
7. You carry an aura of warmth that you freely share with everyone in your life. It pours out of you and surrounds everyone you love with safety and acceptance.
But that’s all. I don’t want you to get uncomfortable with too many compliments. You might start to worry that I’m painfully in love with you.
Though you know I am.
And have been.
And will be until I die.
I love you.
I love you more every day.
And you’re just going to have to live with it.
See you tonight. I’ll be the one with the dopey grin on my face and hearts floating around my head.
XO,
Bo

Heidi Hutchinson was born in South Dakota and raised the exact right distance away from the Black Hills. She had an overactive imagination very early on and wasted no time in getting most of her friends in trouble due to her unrealistic and completely ridiculous ideas. Fueled by coffee and her unwavering and perfectly normal devotion to Dave Grohl, she writes stories that she hopes will inspire her readers to take their hearts on one more adventure. She still lives in the Midwest (though not as close to the Black Hills as she would prefer) with her alarmingly handsome husband, their fearless child, and rather large and spoiled dog. Her fuel is still predominantly Dave Grohl and coffee. And a whole lotta love.
