Title: Heartburn (Love by Design Series Book #3)
Author: M.C. Cerny
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Whittaker Jones could have funded the Interior Department’s conservation budget with his own pinup calendar.
The last thing this sexy forest ranger wanted was to go on a search and rescue mission for a stubborn college co-ed throwing a temper tantrum. He’s got a hot date manning his front porch like a grumpy old man in his rocker with a carton of take-out for dinner.
Amelia Rae Faust hates the outdoors, man buns, and lying, crush stealing roommates.
A hike in the woods turned into an existential vision quest for the girl without a plan. She wasn’t supposed to get lost, or have a one night stand with the surly forest ranger. His body heat is far too tempting and a night of survival becomes something more.

Title: First Love (Love by Design Series Book #0.5)
Author: M.C. Cerny
Genre: Contemporary Romance
HUNTER
The first time Taylor Jane Bryant gave me a boner she held a hammer and a plank of wood. She had no idea how to nail straight and I worried she’d jam her delicate fingers trying.
I might have been a tad overprotective for the third week of high school with a girl I barely knew. I’d already gotten in trouble for fighting and the last thing I needed was getting bounced from my new home. This girl… was a distraction. Trouble.
All my life I’d been told I was worthless by an angry man. I’d never be good enough for her, but I could make sure no one hurt her. I’d never take it further than friendship for both our sakes but it’d kill me to let her go.
TAYLOR JANE
I didn’t expect him to show up for our club project. I didn’t expect him to take my plans and tell me they were crap and then design his own. I certainly didn’t want to say it was better than the original, even if it was.
Hunter Hart was cold as ice despite the smoldering looks he gave every girl, but me. No, he made me mute. He made me angry. He made me fall in love. This boy… he became my first project, my first disaster, and my first love.
He was the boy they warned you about, and the one that kept you up at night wondering how to fast forward through the awkward teenage years right into adulthood. Too bad I’ve been friend-zoned.

Hey baby girl,
Right now you’re on a plane headed to Haiti with your class, and I’m missing you something fierce. I’m so damn proud of you for chasing your dreams. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be here waiting for you the second you come off that plane in New York. I will sprint down the corridor past Homeland Security ready to tackle you in a big embarrassing love bug hug. Ain’t nothing, not even official channels that could hold me back. You might have to hit me a few times upside the head so I remember to let you come up for air. I’m prepared to go all caveman on your lips, your breasts, your ass, every piece of you, because you’re mine.
Was that crazy, overly protective boyfriend enough for you?
I’ve got a whole closet of crazy stashed away, you just say the word and I’m there.
Prepare yourself because your phone is about to go nuclear blowing up with text messages from me. None of that 144 characters shit. I may have called your phone provider and switched you to an international plan. None of that – your phone is out of service crap – when I want to face time you under the covers. Don’t worry, I paid for it, so feel free to yell at me all you want via text. 🙂
But for now, let me tell you how my morning has gone since I dropped you off at the airport…
I was not happy having to hold back my affections seeing as how your mother wanted to stab me with a syrupy fork since breakfast at the diner. I know the damage a dirty diner fork can do to a man’s forearm. Waving it casually was more than a threat, and here I thought she was coming around. Does she not understand a hungry man has needs that go beyond French toast, bacon, and dreaming of all the places I’m going to dribble maple syrup all over your body? Her stink eye was obvious, but I can live with that. I know she didn’t like my long ass hug when the flight attendant had to call for you to board the plane. I won’t mention the thumbs up your dad gave me. He’s a cool guy, babe. I might ask him if he wants to get together and watch a game while you’re gone. He sure looked like he needed an ally in his house, and I’m here for that.
What can I say? I’m a needy guy. I’ve lived alone in my house for so long that I’m worried about going home to an empty place that still has sheets that smell like you and the half empty bottles of your favorite shampoo and conditioner sitting on my shower shelf. Your favorite, or rather my favorite lace bra is still hanging on the laundry line just in case you were missing it. I promise to take good care of pinkie. I’ll fold her gently and place her in the top dresser drawer where I wish you’d leave more of your pretty lacy things…
This is why I had to sit in my jeep until the cop yelled at me to move.
All I can do is think about you.
I can’t think straight without you. My dick hurts without you.
The next few weeks are going to be rough. And no, I’m not exaggerating.
You wanted more communication, more words, more touchy feelings, so here you go.
Moving on from my misery, I have questions. Like how do we feel about sexy selfies? I don’t do dick pics. I refuse to be that guy. Is it different since you’re my girlfriend? Will you show me yours if I show you mine? As long as no one but us is seeing these pics. Cue my personal paranoia, I wouldn’t want your girlfriends getting jealous over the fuzzy bar that covers my big dick. They’ll have to use their imaginations. I’d hate having to explain leaked pics to my boss, or your mother. The full Monty will have to wait until I have you back in my arms, baby!
Just kidding.
Or am I? 🙂
Seriously though, I don’t know what I’m going to do without you here. I might take up writing you sexy things I want to do to you when you get home. How do we feel about that? I’ve already covered the maple syrup, eating you up, and tackling you the moment you get home. If I can control myself long enough. These weeks are going to feel like forever.
If I had you here, I’d slowly strip your clothes off and carry you to bed. The fire would be roaring and the bedroom too warm for covers. I’d lay you down on top of the soft sheets and slowly crawl up your body leaving kisses everywhere until you beg me to stop. I probably won’t stop though because I can’t get enough of you. Touching you will be like sensory overload, addling my brain, driving me crazy.
My mouth would find all the places that drive you wild. Licking you. Grazing my teeth over tender flesh because you’re just so tasty. Like sweet, sticky marshmallow fluff, I don’t want to share.
I guess this is my way of stressing how much I really do love you. You never know what you have until it’s gone. The fire taught me so much about life I didn’t realize I was missing. So while I’m being a cry baby over here – which you’ll never tell anyone about, especially Damien! I want you to have the best time of your life on this assignment. Do all the things. Take tons of pictures. Know how precious and special you are to me. Show the world how amazing you are behind that lens. Show them what you see with your heart, and when you’ve have your fill, know that you can always come home to me. If you’ll let me, I want nothing more than to be your home base, your rock, your only – the soft place for you to land.

M.C. Cerny fell in love with books after experiencing her first real ugly cry reading, Where The Red Fern Grows. Her debut romantic suspense novel, Flashpoint was written in a series of post-it-note ramblings that would likely make her idol Tom Clancy and her mother blush. She is a post graduate of NYU, and calls rural NJ home with her menagerie of human and fur-babies. When M.C. is not writing, you’ll find her lurking in Starbucks, running stupid marathon, singing Disney show tunes, and searching out the perfect shade of pink nail polish. xoxo
