I know it seems unlikely I’d be the one doing the mushy stuff on Valentine’s Day. You’re the one all poetic and stuff, but I enjoy Poetry Night when I come to visit you at the Green Valley Public Library. And as you didn’t laugh at my first poem (I know you got it tucked in your nightstand along with my black skullcap), I thought I’d give writing poetry another shot, seeing as you love it so much.
So here goes:
On a day when lovers express feelings
with gifts; I give to you this wish.
That you should know the following:
As the moon loves the bleak night,
The sea kisses the solid shore,
And the sun hugs the noon sky,
I love you like the above and more.
It’s heaven on earth in your arms,
In your bed, your body, your heart.
You’re more than I imagined coming true,
And my love for you matches your beloved stars.
Infinite. Endless. Powerful. Present.
I’m here for you, never letting you go,
I’m so happy to finally call you my home.
Hope you like it, sweetheart.
You mean the world to me.
