In just over two months time our daughter will make her appearance in this world, changing our lives as we know them but at the same time forging an even deeper bond between us. Before I met you, I had little hope that I would ever be a father, and always assumed that I would wind up a lifelong bachelor like my uncle. Both my home and my life were lonely, quiet places, though occasionally I would allow myself to imagine what it might be like to hear the sound of children’s voices and laughter, and how it would feel to have a wife and family waiting for me at the end of my workday. You have, of course, already filled a large part of that void, and the past three years have unquestionably been the happiest and most fulfilling of my life. The addition of a child into our family will only add to that happiness and sense of fulfillment.
