I can’t help but think back to the night of your wedding and how it filled me with happiness for the two of you and skewered me with the sharpest pain my heart has ever known. What my shattered heart knew would be the end of something wonderful turned into the beginning of the most beautiful marriage I could ever imagine. I don’t say thank you enough.
Tanner, I think I loved you from the first day you walked into our dorm room at Princeton. I saw you then as a man with the greatest potential in the world, and you never let me down. You have served people selflessly as a politician who actually accomplished wonderful things. We knew you would, and you continue to serve generously in your own way. Thank you for teaching me to fish and taking time for it when you could. Fish is good for the heart, you know. 😉
Zoë, your generous heart understood us in a rare way. Your acceptance of me into your marriage, even on your wedding night, was unbelievable. I’m still awestruck at your capacity for love.
