Cairstine Raines has had her life carefully planned out since she was twelve years old. She’s going to live in Dallas, Texas near her parents, marry the boy next door, and have an executive career in business advertising. And it’s all going according to plan until her fiancé Jordan cheats on her with Meghan from Accounting.
Wanting an escape from the humiliation of her break up, she accepts a one year contract in the Highlands of Scotland.
Deep in the Cairngorm Mountains, Cairstine discovers a side of herself she never knew existed, a carefree, adventurous side, and she’s loving it.
When she meets Lachlan Shaw, a brawny, handsome Scotsman, she’s tempted to throw all caution to the wind. However, this fun Highland fling turns out to be more than Cairy expected.
As her contract comes to an end, decisions must be made. She’s found a home in the Highlands with newfound friends, and Lachlan occupies more than just her dreams. Can she leave her heart behind in Scotland or does she take a chance on new love?

My sweet Cairstine,
I know I’m the last man on Earth you want to hear from, but I can’t give up on us without one last try.
The Cairngorm Mountains have always been my refuge but now they’re just reminders of everything I’ve lost. Every trail I walk reminds me of you. I listen for your footsteps crossing our bridge but I’m left standing there alone, remembering our last kiss.
Getting lost in work isn’t an option, either. Walking past your empty office is torture. Everywhere I look I expect to see you.
I know I hurt you, Cairsty. I’m sorry. You deserved better from me. If you’ll let me, I’ll do anything to make it up to you.
Forgive me for being such an ass and not realizing all this sooner. Please come back to Scotland. I’ll wait however long it takes. My past doesn’t matter. In my future, there’s only you if you’ll have me.
I miss you, Cairsty. I love you,
Lachlan
