Each author was given the same first sentence. Where they took that sentence was completely up to them.

The only thing these stories have in common is their starting point. Each author showcased in this anthology was featured in The Bookworm Box in 2020. Each author has graciously donated their story so that 100% of profits from this anthology will be going to the various charities The Bookworm Box is able to support because of you, the readers

To my Valentine, Kit:

Here we are. We’ve experienced such sky-scraping highs, and, well . . . some lows too. At least we know the worst is behind us. Tempted as I am to regret our year apart, it’s what brought us to today. Living together, connected in ways I never knew possible, and—by the time you’ve read this—hopefully engaged.

I’d never ride out these ups and downs with anyone else. You make life worth living to its fullest. It’s no secret that the brain is my specialty, but it seems I can’t make sense of love. For that, I’ll have to trust the blood-pumping organ in my chest that skips a beat whenever you enter a room.

So, with all the chambers of my heart—Happy Valentine’s Day, Christine. I lobe you (excuse my attempt at neuroscience humor).
