The golden angel who swooped in to save me from a nightmare first date turns out to be a billionaire vulture circling the company I work for.
Carter Kingsley: My savior and ruthless corporate raider hell bent on destroying the newspaper I love. Oh, and my new boss.
His first order of business? Cut half the staff. I should hate him. Easy, right?
Wrong.
I met him two weeks ago, when he saved me from the most awkward first date of my life. I was looking for a way out when he strolled up in a ten-thousand dollar suit with a winning smile, and told a white lie that turned the date from hell into heavenly bliss.
I left with his number in my phone, and spent the next two weeks staying up late to text him. He’s charming. Funny. Sincere.
Completely unlike the ruthless villain who comes in and carves us up.
My first order of business is to interview the new boss. But who is sitting on the other side of the desk? The man who saved and charmed me, or the one who’s threatening everything I hold dear?
Carter insists that we can still be friends, but I know that the whole situation is a ticking time bomb.
Carter’s note is simply fantastic!

Light of my life,
When you’re reading this, you likely suspect where we’re going on our honeymoon. You’re also rolling your eyes at how I titled this letter. Light of my life. It sounds like an exaggeration, and perhaps you think it is, but it’s the truth. Saying I do to you earlier was the easiest yes I’ve ever given.
I’ve called you many things during our time together. Kid. Spitfire. Honey. Sometimes I even call you Audrey. I know I’ve said light of my life jokingly, but I was always dead serious inside. That’s what you’ve been to me from the start. A light of honesty and sincerity when I was one step shy of jaded. From the first night I met you, I knew you were someone to be earned and not charmed.
And dear God, I don’t know if I’ve earned you yet, but I hope you’ll let me keep trying for the rest of our lives, because there’s nothing I’ve called you that measures up to this new title. My wife.
I have to write it again. My wife. Can you believe it? You’ll hear me say it over and over again on this trip until you tell me to stop. Or maybe you’ll indulge in it with me. I’m your husband now, after all. Can you believe it? I’m Audrey Kingsley’s husband. Watch me shout it from the rooftops.
So my darling, light of my life, my spitfire, my best friend, my love and my wife. Your bag is packed and in the car. The only thing left is to put on this dress and meet me downstairs for an adventure. The rest of our life together starts now… let me wow you, kid.
Your loving husband,
Carter
PS: Don’t worry, the bag with wedding night lingerie you bought (and tried to hide from me) is packed too 😉
Olivia is a twenty-something hopeless romantic who loves billionaires heroes despite never having met one. Taking matters into her own hands, she creates them on the page instead. Stern, charming, cold or brooding, so far she’s never met a (fictional) billionaire she didn’t like.
A voracious reader of romance, Olivia picked up the pen a few years back and what followed was a love affair of her own. Now she spends her days grinning at the steamy banter she’s writing or swooning at happily-ever-afters. Or, to be frank, struggling with writing about herself in third person for the purposes of marketing.
She’s been writing contemporary romance novels since 2018.

(Phew. Now I can go back to first-person love stories!)
