It’s been an entire month since Shayler Thompson has orgasmed from something not made out of silicone. If her sour mood is any indication, she needs to get laid like yesterday. So when she walks up to a sexy nerd at the bar and propositions him, it seems like a great idea. Until he rejects her and calls her easy.
Still reeling from his hurtful words, Shayler is surprised to find that the nerd, David, is a Teacher Assistant for the one college class she’s totally embarrassing herself in. When he offers to help her study, she accepts, thinking that maybe she’ll get laid after all. But David isn’t into casual sex, and Shayler refuses any sort of commitment. With enough chemistry to light his dumb Prius on fire, she’s sure one of them will eventually give in… She just really hopes it won’t be her.

Rebecca Washington is a girl in control. Well, at least when it comes to acing her college classes. The rest of the time, she seems to be at the mercy of everyone else. Like when she’s dumped in front of her peers, hit on right afterwards by a jerk for some stupid bet, and then paired up with the same jerk for a lit project.
In order to maintain her perfect GPA, Rebecca will need to give a stellar presentation while ignoring the prodding eyes that will be staring at her. When her partner, Derek, starts to ease her fears of public speaking with his laid back attitude, she’s forced to confront her new feelings about him and his charming smile. Rebecca knows falling for a guy who teases her for being a prudish nerd can only end badly, but what if it’s just another thing out of her control?
David is simply adorable…

Actually, Shayler, while I have you… and I don’t mean have you, have you, I just mean your attention while you’re reading this note, Happy Valentine’s Day. You mean a lot to You’re probably not the type to celebrate, are you? Hallmark holiday and all that. But I wanted to say it because I really like you
God, I’m terrible at this, aren’t I? Regular notes, I’m fine with, but this? Terrible. You’re probably going to rip this up and throw it away with the rest of the love letters I’m sure you’ll get. Not that this is a love letter, per say. It’s more of a thank you. Yeah, okay. This is a Thank You / Happy V-Day letter.
Shayler, before I met you, I thought my life was fine- aside from Kyle’s existence. But you’ve brought this sunshine into it that I’ve never known before. You’re so bright and beautiful and happy, and I can’t imagine spending my Fridays doing anything else. Alright, that time at the club was… more than okay. But I’ll take studying and sitting at my dining table if it means being alone with you. As long as I’m with you, I don’t give a shit what we do. You take everything ordinary and somehow weave it into the extraordinary, and my life hasn’t felt the same because of it.
Your laughter is addictive. Your smile is, sorry to be cliché, like pure sunshine. But that’s not where it ends. You’re smart, Shayler. So smart. You have the world at your fingertips; everything is yours for the taking if you really want it. I’m happy you’ve allowed me to come along for the ride. And no, that’s not an innuendo so stop laughing to yourself about that.
Thank you for making my life brighter. No matter what idiotic things I may have said when we met, never lose that spark. Always be you, because you’re amazing. In, um, a strictly platonic way, of course.
Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day, Shayler.
