Remember when we were kids and the boys in school would pick on you? I don’t think you ever noticed that shortly after you told me or Trey about it they always stopped. We never told you what we did because even at eight you were this strong independent person who wanted to fight her own battles, but we were always there, protecting you.

It kills me every day that I wasn’t there to protect you from those assholes who hurt you. It kills me more that there was a time I was one of them. I promise you this though, I will protect you from here on out. I will love you and the kids until my last breath.
