From the first meeting

Telling me how to do my job
With your honest eyes
And quick tongue
Your energy soothed
My most disordered thoughts
I knew I was hooked
Though fear tapped
Me on the shoulder
And reminded me of
Who I am
You killed that beast
with small talk
and a kind of desire
that can’t be doused
with self-doubt
I knew I was wanted
Trials of the heart
and of the fist
Brought us together
Nothing earthly can
Pry us apart
I am made of stars
That light your night
And you are the sun
Giving me life
I knew I was yours
In front of God
we will vow to love
In front of love
we will vow to thrive
With rings of gold and promise
I will finally feel
Worthy of your adoration
And strong enough to
Survive this chaos
