It’s been almost a month now since I’ve seen you, though it feels more like a year. And every single day of that time I’ve been beating myself up about what an idiot I was in Las Vegas, and how much I must have hurt you. I know that mere words can’t come close to telling you how very, very sorry I am for what I did, but I really do mean it from the bottom of my heart.
I’ll confess that I’m not much of a letter writer. In fact, this is probably the first letter I’ve written since my mother forced me to send one of my great-aunts a thank you note for a gift she sent me. And given that I was probably all of twelve years old at the time – well, you can do the math and figure out just how long it’s been since I’ve written anyone a letter or note. And it’s a sure bet that I’ve never sent a letter to any of the women I’ve dated over the years, not even a greeting card.
So I hope that helps to convince you of just how special you are to me, Delilah, how different from anyone else I’ve ever dated or known. I love you, Delilah, and that is definitely something I’ve never told anyone before. I don’t expect you to forgive me easily, and I’m prepared to grovel and beg for the next year if I have to, to do or say whatever it takes to get you to forgive me. You’re the only one for me, baby, and I’m not going to stop writing you these letters until you’re ready to forgive me and take me back.
