love note

Lia –

Before you came along my life was hardly bearable. Each day was something I had to survive rather than look forward to. As you well know that’s because of my stepfather Dimitri.

What that monster did to your brother was unforgiveable. Then for him to want you dead—by my hands—so he’d never face consequences… Damn.

From the first moment I saw you in that gym, beating the hell out of the punching bag, I knew I was a goner. I’m not the sentimental type, but the second our eyes met I remembered that scene in West Side Story when Tony and Maria see each other for the first time during the dance in the gym. Like them, everyone else faded away for me when our gazes touched. I saw only you. I wanted only you.

That need grew even when you were convinced I’d kill you as Dimitri demanded. I can’t blame you for that. My brothers’ and my mother’s survival depended upon you dying. Even thinking about those dark days makes me sick.

To say you saved my life and my future by believing in me is a sad understatement. If not for you, I wouldn’t be the man I am today. Not perfect, but doing my best to be better.

I intend to prove it on Valentine’s Day. After massaging you from head-to-toe then giving you a bubble bath, I’ll cook your fave things. Once you’re relaxed and content, I’m going to take you to bed and not turn you loose until you’re breathless. That’s a damn promise.

All my love forever…and then some,

Adrian
