Dear Sophie,
I’m not really sure why I’m writing this down. Maybe it’s because there are some things you just want to stay, you know? And when you write something down, it stays. Forever. And there’s something I’ve wanted to tell you since we were in third grade so here it is: thank you.
You’ve always taken care of everyone…the Littles, your mom, my mom…me. And I’m not sure if you know how amazing that makes you. Thank you for dropping me notes when we would walk home from school. For smelling like apples. For smiling when you would rather cry. For telling me I was brave when I was scared to death inside. For always being the best part of my day. I haven’t had a lot of people in my life that cared, really cared about me, but I’ve never felt alone or empty or hopeless because I’ve had you. So thank you. For today. For yesterday. For every day. Thank you.
Love,
Carter
Chelsea lives in Phoenix, Arizona where she spends most of her time writing stories, painting murals, and avoiding housework at all costs. She’s ridiculously bad at doing dishes and claims to be allergic to laundry. Her obsessions include: superheroes, coffee, sleeping-in, and crazy socks. She lives with her husband and two children, who graciously tolerate her inability to resist teenage drama on TV and her complete lack of skill in the kitchen.
